Title: Oak Gall

Materials: Abaca, Hemp, Cotton

Dimensions: 7"x 7"x 8"

Description of the Piece: Oak Gall is a hollow handmade paper vessel. The form is laminate cast using sheets of abaca and hemp fiber with cotton pulp painting. Inspired by the delicate form of oak galls, this work considers the duality of cyclical and parasitic ecological processes. Artist Bio: Mia Brown-Seguin is a handmade paper sculptor and current Long-Term National Artist-in-Residence at Contemporary Craft. She studied Fine Arts at Cornell University and enjoys working with abaca fiber.
