More than a century ago, a group of donors provided the funds for our agency to purchase five acres of land in Altadena. They commissioned famed architect Myron Hunt to design an outstanding child-oriented facility which opened in 1926. This year, in 2026, we are celebrating the centennial of Five Acres' historical headquarters. We have spent 100 years caring for children in Altadena and 138 years since our founding in Los Angeles County, made possible by dedicated supporters who are Five Acres' partners in providing safety, well-being, and permanency for every child.
The Golden Five Acres Gala will be held on June 6, 2026, at a private club in Pasadena. We hope you will join us in marking this major milestone in Five Acres' history! Our theme honors Five Acres' past as well as the era in which our agency first opened its iconic historical headquarters. This evening will be filled with live music, glamorous guests, lovely libations, and tantalizing fare from the 1920s!
