A message from the donor:

I graduated from De Sales in 1968. My entire family (all seven of us!) are graduates. I lived in Peru during my spouse's service as a USAID Foreign Service Officer. During our time in Peru we acquired this beautiful, modern reproduction of a Cusco School painting at a local market. The painting was inspired by the artistic traditions of the Cusco School. The Cusco School blended European Catholic imagery with Indigenous Andean traditions, reflecting the Cultural fusion of Colonial Peru. The art was often used to teach Catholic beliefs. This large devotional artwork depicts "The Adoration of the Magi"-the three wise men presenting gifts to the Christ Child. It beautifully reflects the rich colors, gold accents and Baroque style that made Peruvian religious art famous. A standout feature is its beautiful carved and gilded wooden frame from Peru, richly ornamental in the traditional colonial style. The painting is approximately 31" X 45"; with frame it is 41" X 55". I am thrilled that the painting will benefit the work of St. Francis de Sales School.
