Thai Golden Buddha in Royal Attire, likely representative of the Rattanakosin period (18th & 19th century). The posture and details carry significant meaning in Buddha tradition. The Buddha is standing with both arms crossed over the chest, right hand over left. In Thailand, this specific pose is known as Pang Ram Pueng (which means "Contemplating Buddha"). Unlike many depictions where the Buddha wears a simple monk's robe, this figure is "crowned" or "decked". Gilded brass. This piece is a religious icon meant to inspire patience and contemplation.
