Artist Statement
My current body of work explores the experience of IVF through the lens of childhood imagery and hidden narratives. As a child, I was drawn to the hidden picture puzzles in Highlights magazine. In this collection, I revisit that concept-layering hidden imagery within familiar forms-and merge it with visual references to IVF.

One of the most challenging parts of my journey into motherhood was undergoing IVF. The process was emotionally exhausting and deeply overwhelming. Yet, at the same time, I felt compelled to remain mentally strong-to conceal my vulnerability and move through each day as though nothing unusual was happening. There was an invisible weight I carried, one that few could see.

To reflect this duality, I focus on classic childhood toys and experiences. These symbols evoke innocence, hope, and nostalgia, while subtly embedding imagery connected to fertility and medical intervention. The hidden elements within each piece mirror the concealed emotions and private struggles that accompanied my IVF journey. Through this work, I explore the contrast between external strength and internal fragility, while honoring the resilience required to endure both.
