Gregg Krantz
Sometimes It's Self Evident, 2017
Relief print on Rives BFK
Paper: 22 x 22"
Frame: 29-1/2 x 29-1/2"

Artist Statement
I express myself through a graphic visual language that aims to challenge our expectations of traditional printmaking processes. I carve mat board plates to record a graphic abstract visual narrative that references music, language and the passage of time. Riffing on the subjects of networked connectivity, the flow of information and rhythms of daily life, I record these temporal ideas through line and mark making. There is an undeniable musical quality to the resulting prints with a strong reliance on both composition and improvisation. I think of my work as maps that take you on a journey though an imagined universe.

About
My work is informed by my studies of art history, photography, printmaking and graphic design. I run an interior design business with my partner and create prints and works on paper out of my art studio in West Philadelphia. I have exhibited my work in many exhibitions through my affiliation with the former Sande Webster Gallery, memberships in the American Color Print Society and the Fleisher Art Memorial.
