Artist Statement
Janet Towbin (Paradise Valley, AZ) creates intricately layered etchings and lithographs characterized by obsessive patterning and repetitive detail. Her meticulous drawing practice marks the passage of time and reflects a deep fascination with the growth patterns of natural organisms. At times, her lines crystallize into precise, algorithmic forms; at others, they verge on chaos, guided by intuition rather than logic.

Towbin studied at University of Cincinnati and has taught at Moore College of Art and Design and Carnegie Mellon University. She has exhibited nationally, including solo shows at Abington Art Center, Tadu Contemporary Art, and Butler Institute of American Art. Her work is held in public and private collections including Carnegie Museum of Art, Westmoreland Museum of American Art, and Arcadia University.
