Chris Curchin
Yard's Brawler Six Pack, 2024
Oil on cardboard (recycled Six-pack box)
29 x 23 x 1-1/2"

Artist Statement
This painting is made on a Yard's Brewery beer six pack box that has been dissembled and mounted. It's part of a series that evolved out of experimenting with reusable surfaces . It began a few years back with antigen home test boxes and evolved to include a variety of different box types.

When you tear a box apart to recycle it these random shapes arise. I particularly enjoy the torn edges and the cut out shapes. They are relics that remind me somehow of manuscripts telling the story of the process, their recycling/creation.
