Carolyn Foster is a local multidisciplinary artist and printmaker who received her BFA in Printmaking from Western Illinois University. Working primarily in serigraphy (screen-printing), she uses layered imagery to convey a sense of movement and prioritizes a human touch in her craft. This work is part of a trio that Foster created while at WIU, exploring the intimacy of the human form beneath an American flag superimposed upon it. The series seeks to question the cost of patriotism upon various marginalized bodies. If you'd like to see more of her work, she can be found on Instagram at @carolynfosterart.
