Freshkills Park Kayaking Adventure for Up to 20 Guests
Enjoy an unforgettable group kayaking experience at Freshkills Park, a remarkable 2,200-acre nature preserve with some of the cleanest estuarial waterways in New York City.
Hosted by Freshkills Park Alliance President Mark Murphy, his team of adventure educators, and our own, much-loved science teacher, Clay Wollney, this exclusive outing invites up to 20 guests to explore the park's extraordinary natural beauty by kayak. Over the course of approximately two hours, participants will paddle along the banks of the main creek and into the William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge, taking in the scenery and wildlife along the way. The experience includes approximately 90 minutes on the water, plus preparation time before launch.
This adventure is suitable for all ages, with tandem kayaks available for children and adults who wish to paddle together, making it an ideal outing for families.
To make the outing even more enjoyable, sandwiches and cold non-alcoholic beverages will be provided on site.
This is a rare chance to discover Freshkills Park, the largest park built in New York City in over a century. It's 11 miles of pristine waterways are among the cleanest in the five boroughs, and kayak outings often offer glimpses of eagles, ospreys, other raptors, and grassland birds in their natural habitat. With a bit of luck, guests may even spot one of the park's shy foxes.
Please note: This experience will be scheduled for a weekend date, at high tide, and in suitable warm-weather conditions.
