2026 Tournament Beneficiary

This year's tournament will benefit the Upstate Foundation's Friend in Deed fund, an important source of funding for vital programs and services, and unmet patient needs at Upstate University Hospital and Upstate Community Hospital. These needs are identified by those who care for patients - doctors, nurses and other health care professionals - and their desire to make the patient experience as positive as possible. For patients with limited financial resources, Friend In Deed provides essential medical supplies and care items often bridging the gap between hospital and home.
Each year, requests for funding from Friend In Deed exceed the fund balance. Your generous support as a Towsley sponsor means that Friend In Deed will have a greater impact on Upstate programs and patients in ways that make a genuine difference. THANK YOU!
Examples: The Positive Impact of the Friend in Deed Fund
- Blood pressure cuffs for heart and stroke survivors.
- Barriers to discharge: canes, walkers, wheelchairs.
- Glucose monitoring supplies for adult and pediatric diabetes patients.
- ENHANCE - a program that supports foster care children and families by providing backpacks, school supplies, admission tickets to the zoo, the MOST and other community/cultural experiences.
- Stroke Survivor Camp, an annual weekend retreat for survivors and families to provide coping and transition strategies.
- Neuro on Wheels program provides free, specialized transportation for ALS patients who otherwise have no means of traveling to their medical appointments.
- Blanket warmers for patients receiving infusions in the hospital or at home to combat mild hypothermia.
- For newborns leaving the Upstate Family Birth Center, diapers, formula, and safety checked car seats.
