Step into the story of America's inception during an extraordinary year of celebration, honoring the 250th anniversary of our nation and the 100th anniversary of Colonial Williamsburg.
From the first permanent English settlement at Jamestown in 1607 to the battlefields of Yorktown and the restored capital city of Williamsburg, this region stands as the cradle of American history. Envisioned in 1926 by John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Colonial Williamsburg has become the largest living history museum in the United States, where the 18th century comes vividly to life.
Stroll Duke of Gloucester Street as the Fifes and Drums march past. Explore the Governor's Palace, the House of Burgesses, Bruton Parish Church, and dozens of original and faithfully reconstructed buildings. Meet skilled tradespeople practicing more than 20 historic crafts using 18th-century tools, engage with costumed interpreters portraying figures from America's founding, and experience reenactments, carriage rides, and behind-the-scenes tours. As the town begins to dress for a Colonial Christmas, you'll be part of a milestone year unlike any other.
This is more than a vacation; it's a journey into the founding of a nation.
