"Aside from a roaring good time, this event gives us a great opportunity to support the life-saving work conducted at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center," said Saux. "Thanks to the generosity of this community, we've raised thousands of dollars to support patients right here on the Northshore. As much as we've accomplished, we know that there is so much more work to do. So, come out and join us on January 17!"
This event, which began as a birthday celebration for Saux has evolved into a successful fundraiser benefiting cancer patients, survivors, and their families. In the last decade, the annual Pirate Party raised more than $200,000 for local medical and mental health centers and non-profit organizations. These funds supported patient assistance programs and helped remove barriers to care for patients across Covington and the Northshore region.
"Throughout my own battle with cancer, I have been overwhelmed with how much support I have received," said Saux. "This community means so much to me and my family. Time and again, members of this community come out and support their neighbors. Here, on the Northshore, no one fighting cancer is forced to battle alone."
