It started with a birthday gift. In 2024, Daniela Groza crafted a pair of custom hearing aid covers for her partner Declan McLaughlin. For the first time in his life, Dec's hearing aids didn't feel like medical devices. They felt intentional, personal, and worth showing off. Dec had been hard of hearing since birth, and for years had worn just one hearing aid when he needed two because of the stigma.

From that moment, Auzi was born. Daniela, a GIA Graduate Gemologist with 14 years of experience and a degree in Jewelry and Silversmithing from Edinburgh College of Art, brought her craft to a cause. Dec brought his lifelong understanding of what it means to navigate the world with hearing aids. Together, they built a brand on a simple belief: hearing aids deserve to be celebrated, not hidden.

The name Auzi comes from the Romanian word meaning "to hear," a nod to Daniela's heritage, and also plays on "Au," the chemical symbol for gold, and on the word "audio," reinforcing their mission to elevate hearing aids through design.
