Replica "Hymanotor" - The Hyman 2 Artificial Pacemaker
Step back to the very origins of cardiac electrophysiology with this remarkable replica of the "Hymanotor" - one of the earliest devices ever conceived to restart the human heart.
In 1930, Dr. Albert S. Hyman and his brother, engineer Charles Hyman, developed and patented what they called an "artificial pacemaker" - marking the first use of the term. Their groundbreaking device delivered electrical stimulation directly to the heart via a needle inserted through the chest wall, powered by a hand-cranked magneto generator. Though controversial at the time for "interfering with natural events," the Hymanotor laid the foundation for modern pacing technology.
This replica model, meticulously reconstructed in 1999 by George Szarka, is an exact duplicate of a piece held in the Heart Rhythm Society's historic collection.
A true conversation piece and a tribute to the pioneers of electrophysiology, this artifact is ideal for collectors, historians, or anyone passionate about the evolution of cardiac care.
