Alexander Smalls, James Beard Award-winning chef, author, restaurateur, and raconteur extraordinaire invites you into his splendid home in Harlem, New York for a glorious evening of food, fellowship, and music.

Choose between a seated dinner for 11 with Alexander as your host or kick up your heels at a buffet party for 21.


Smalls was the visionary co-owner of Harlem's renowned restaurants, The Cecil and Minton's. The Cecil, named Esquire's Best New Restaurant in America, was New York City's first Afro-Asian-American restaurant. More recently, Smalls established Alkebulan, the world's first African dining hall in Dubai.

His past restaurants, Cafe Beulah, Sweet Ophelia's and Shoebox Cafe, left an indelible mark on the next generation of chefs. Over the past three decades, Smalls has traveled the world studying the foodways of the African diaspora, celebrating the rich heritage in his numerous books, including the James Beard Award-winning Between Harlem and Heaven and the groundbreaking collectionThe Contemporary African Kitchen: Home Cooking Recipes from the Leading Chefs of Africa.

Smalls is a Grammy and Tony award winner, and a world-renowned opera singer.
