A pre-WWII piston from Pratt & Whitney's R-1690 Hornet engine

This critical engine component was built in the 1930's-40's and powered iconic Gee Bee racing planes, Lockheed Super Electras, and Sikorsky flying boats. Pistons, considered no-fail parts, were designed to withstand extreme g-forces and operating temperatures. After the war, Pratt changed its focus to turbojets, making these pistons obsolete.

A fascinating conversation piece, this item can be displayed as pure aviation memorabilia, or it can be used as a unique cigar ashtray or desktop container. The included cigars are Charter Oak brand with Connecticut-grown broadleaf tobacco. Let your imagination take flight!
