The Junior League of St. Petersburg is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Since our founding in 1931, we've provided training to thousands of women community leaders, supported the creation of multiple local non-profits, and provided resources for countless children through our community programs. Today, our focus is on the sustainability and impact of our current community programs and the growth of our leadership and training programs. Below is a highlight of just some of our recent achievements and local impact.
- Legacy Back-to-School Care Fair event: Over the last 29 years through our annual Care Fair event, we have partnered with local practitioners and community organizations to provide more than 8,200 medical exams, 32,000 backpacks with age appropriate school supplies, 350 dental exams, as well as access to an agency resource fair and family-friendly street fair.
- Kids in the Kitchen (KITK) Education and Programming: This program started as an afterschool program that provided nutrition and food to school children. With the onset of the pandemic, everything closed, and our opportunity to volunteer hands- on no longer existed. We knew that the risk of food insecurity would increase for children away from school and afterschool resources. While navigating social distancing with a drive to be serving our community, we adjusted our KITK program to focus on Packing-A-Snack. What started as a weekly project to help during a national crisis, grew into a longstanding monthly program. Since 2020, we've provided over 18,000 snack packs.
- Enabling Grants: Through our annual Enabling Grant Fund, the Junior League provides different local non-profits with financial support for individualized needs. Since 2002, we have provided over $120,000 through this fund to local nonprofits such as the Barbershop Book Club, Ryan Nece Foundation, Girls on the Run, and Florida Press Educational Services, and so many more.
- Women in Leadership: The Junior League is a non-profit women's volunteer organization that gives its 400+ members the opportunity to gain experience as a leader on a Board, Management Team, and committee. Our organization provides each member with training and support to succeed in a leadership role. All members have access to exclusive online training, national support, and localized training centered around community needs, advocacy, personal growth and development.
