This year's Signature Piece, Neon Lights in Chi-Town, is a collaborative work of art created by the artists of Misericordia's Herbstritt Studio. The idea for this painting was inspired by the artist's exploration into Yayoi Kusama and Nnena Kalu's work. The artist's use of circle stencils, acrylic paint, sponge and brushes gives the appeal of neon lights in their vibrant home city of Chicago. We were inspired by the repetition in Nnena Kalu's drawings whilst also celebrating her as the first artist with a learning disability to win the UK's most prestigious Art award (2025 Turner Prize). Through this process, artists were given the opportunity to explore the value that their work can bring to the world, just like Kalu and Kusama.
