Join the Northwest Community Forest Coalition this October for meetings over two days in Montesano, Washington. This meeting will consist of a site visit to the Montesano Community Forest and neighboring Lake Sylvia State Park and a day of meetings and presentations regarding relevant community forest management topics.
During the meeting, attendees will:
- Learn more about how a community forest can optimize the property for forest revenue, while maintaining recreational opportunities and ensuring good stewardship of fish and wildlife habitats.
- Hear examples of cross boundary land management practices being leveraged by community forests and coalition partners.
- See creative investments being made to support local wood economies.
- Receive an update around Coalition wide advocacy efforts.
- Find out about new and upcoming funding opportunities within the region.

During the afternoon of Tuesday, October 21, join City Forester, John Bull, on a visit to
the Montesano Community Forest, a 5,400-acre forest overlooking the City of
Montesano, Lake Sylvia State Park, and into the Olympic and Cascade Mountains. This
visit will provide attendees with a great opportunity to learn how balancing timber
harvest, recreation, and ecological priorities remains possible within the property.
