Each year, The Row to the Future Breakfast brings together the Pacific Northwest rowing community to celebrate the George Pocock Excellence Award winners, raise funds for The George Pocock Rowing Foundation, hear stories from young people, and shine a light on our regional rowing community.

Since 1984, the George Pocock Rowing Foundation has been supporting young people in the Pacific Northwest and we hope you will join us to help get more young people on the water!

We are excited to welcome two fantastic speakers: Yaz Farooq and Tara Morgan. Yaz is the Head Coach for the UW Women's rowing team, an NCAA champion coach and an Olympian. Tara is the co-founder of and host of Steady State Network, an Allies with Oars Ambassador, founder of Seize the Oar Foundation and LTR coach at Mt. Baker.

Thanks to the unwavering commitment and collective generosity of our community-including the vital support received at last year's Breakfast-The Pocock Foundation programs are able to serve:

  • 50,000+ young people through ERG ED.
  • Over 140 scholarship athletes regionally (from 12+ boathouses).
  • 181 Camp Lucy participants who have been introduced to rowing through the free camp.

The George Pocock Excellence Award: Call for Nominations

Recognize a Leader in Your Rowing Community

GPRF is proud to honor the individuals-coaches, athletes, and volunteers-who embody the highest ideals of our sport and tirelessly work to strengthen the rowing community. We invite you to nominate someone from your boathouse for the prestigious George Pocock Excellence Award.

The Legacy of George Pocock

George Pocock's life was defined by the spirit of humility, deep care for the individual and the team, and a sacred commitment to mentorship. His legendary generosity-whether donating boats to worthy teams, refusing payment, or "accidentally" including extra shells in an order-was always done with a simple, profound goal: to help teams and rowers achieve their best, without expectation of recognition or repayment.

Do you know someone who embodies this spirit?
