Stephanie Rosendorff

Black stoneware and glaze

13.5" x 6" x 3"

Bio: Stephanie Rosendorf is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She most recently completed a post-baccalaureate program in ceramics at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, following her career as a creative director in the publishing industry. Her work has been exhibited nationally, as well as locally at Swan Coach House Gallery, Echo Contemporary Art, MINT Gallery, and DK Contemporary Gallery. She can most often be found working in her home studio or in the handbuilding room at her favorite local art center, Callanwolde Fine Arts.
Statement: Working mostly with delicate porcelains and the occasional
rustic earthy clay, I create sculptures inspired by nature: flowers, forests, plants, fungi, animals, oceanic life and the earth's landscape. I'm also influenced by dreams and hazy memories floating just beyond the grasp of the conscious mind. It's a blending of the real and imaginary layered within soft, rhythmic patterns. By using the meditative process of ceramics to interpret these details from the natural (and sometimes not-so- natural) world, I hope to bring a sense of wonder and delight to the viewer, and inspire them to notice the little things normally overlooked or unseen in the busyness of modern life.
