Gregor Turk
Bio
Known for his public art installations, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media constructions, Gregor Turk often incorporates mapping imagery, signage, and cultural markings into his artwork. He has permanent public art installations at the Atlanta and Jacksonville airports and numerous public facilities throughout the city including several parks, a library, police precinct, and fire station. His work is in the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, High Museum, MOCA-GA, and numerous other public and private collections. Look for Myriad, a long-term installation of dozens of convex security mirrors going into Piedmont Park later this fall. This installation is similar to Assembly seen on Ponce across the street from the Majestic Diner at the Druid Hills Presbyterian Church that came down earlier this year.
Turk grew up in Atlanta, received his B.A. from Rhodes College in Memphis and his M.F.A. from Boston University. Between degrees he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia. His studio is located in Blandtown, just on the other side of the tracks from King Plow.
