ABOUT CHEF RUTH MANCHESTER:

Ruth grew up in the food business. Her Paternal grandfather owned a butcher shop in Newton where her mother taught her how to cut meat, make sausage and pate' and bone out fowl.

Restaurant positions followed during high school and college, where a love of food turned into a desire to become a chef.

While working on Cape Cod at a prestigious French restaurant, Ruth was mentored by James Beard award-winning Chef Robert Kincaid & Michelin-starred French chef Guy Savoy.

In 1979, Ruth and her husband Cliff opened Dinner at the Manse, a prix fixe 35-seat restaurant located in Cliff's parents' inn - The Old Manse Inn. After a very successful run there, they realized they needed to grow in size.

Four years later, they purchased The Bramble Inn. The restaurant was an instant success garnering them many accolades including best restaurant on Cape Cod from Zagat, Top 100 Hotel restaurants in America from USA Today, Award of Excellence from Conde Naste Traveler, and an invitation to join DaRona as well as numerous original recipes published in Gourmet, Food & Wine, Chocolatier, The New York Times, Naples Daily News and the Boston Globe to name a few.

On a personal level, Ruth was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor from the Academie Brillat Savarin as well as entrée into Best Chef's of America in 2016.

Ruth has also given back by supporting many local philanthropic organizations in Naples, such as Hope for Haiti, Naples Winter Wine Festival, Center for Abused Women & Children as well as Opera Naples by donating dinners and her services to raise money for these causes.

During winter months, Ruth opened Word of Mouth Catering in Naples which she continues to run year round now that she has retired from the restaurant business. Ruth's goal is to always serve the freshest ingredients in the most beautiful way possible.
