Washington D.C.- Republic Restoratives Borough Batch 3

Republic Restoratives Distillery is based in Washington D.C. They are the largest crowdfunded distillery in the US. It's a bourbon that is finished in 50 year old Armagnac casks. The mash bill consists of 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley.

Nose: rye and leather
Palate: spices, honey, apricots, vanilla and fruit
Finish: rich and sweet
Cost: $51.99 (what we paid)

This whiskey is very rich, buttery and leans on the sweeter side of whiskey. Initially, I though that be off putting to me (I don't particularly care for a sweet whiskey) but it wasn't. The sweetness is there but you then get hit with spices and warmth. It doesn't have a big bite but a subtle tug at the back of your mouth.

It's a whiskey that would honestly be amazing in an Old Fashioned. It's also perfect for people who enjoy a whiskey that is slightly sweeter. Not going to lie, I'm surprised I liked it.
