Description: This grant will fund an Auscultation Trainer, an advanced simulation tool that allows students to hear, identify, and interpret real cardiac, respiratory, and gastrointestinal sounds. By replicating authentic clinical scenarios, this technology transforms the classroom into a hands-on healthcare environment where students can practice critical listening and diagnostic skills essential for patient assessment.
In the Health Science program, students preparing for careers as nurses, medical assistants, and patient care technicians will use the trainer to recognize normal and abnormal sounds-skills that are vital in real healthcare settings. This immersive learning experience bridges the gap between theory and practice, helping students build confidence, accuracy, and clinical judgment before entering clinical rotations or postsecondary training.
The Auscultation Trainer promotes authentic, career-ready learning by allowing students to learn through experience rather than observation. It supports FISD's mission to prepare learners for success beyond the classroom by combining innovation, technology, and healthcare education to create future-ready professionals.
