Description: Building Thinking Classrooms is a teaching method that aims to help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and active engagement skills. It's based on the research of Peter Liljedahl, who observed teachers struggling to engage students in deep thinking. In a thinking classroom, the teacher acts as a facilitator, rather than a traditional lecturer. Students are placed into collaborative groups to solve problems. The physical layout of the classroom can significantly impact student thinking. Most of the ideas in BTC are about changing the classroom routine, setup, and the behaviors of everyone - teachers and students alike - so that the math learning is improved as a consequence.
