Description: This grant will fund the purchase of a Creality RaptorX Wireless Hybrid Blue Laser + NIR 3D Scanner to dramatically expand our digital engineering and fabrication capabilities. With volume accuracy down to 0.02mm and ultra-fast WiFi 6 data transmission, students will be able to capture high resolution 3D models of real-world objects and convert them into editable CAD files for 3D printing, robotics, aerospace, and product design projects.

Our engineering students routinely design complex assemblies and custom mechanisms for FRC robotics, FTC robotics, rocketry, product development, and advanced engineering coursework. Many of these projects require exact reverse engineering of parts, hardware interfaces, custom geometry, or rapid reproduction of student-designed components. Currently, this process is done manually with calipers, micrometers, and manual measurement-leading to tolerance issues and time delays. The RaptorX 3D Scanner solves this by allowing students to scan physical parts in seconds and generate precise digital meshes that can be immediately brought into CAD for modification, redesign, or integration into new builds.
