Description: This grant will fund the purchase of an Electric Tapping Machine (M3-M16, 360ø multi-direction, AC 110V) to improve the accuracy, consistency, and safety of creating threaded holes in metal components used in student robotics builds and engineering fabrication projects.
Threading holes by hand using conventional taps is slow, inconsistent, and often results in broken taps and damaged parts-especially when working with hard alloys, deep holes, or tight tolerances required for robotics precision. We frequently fabricate custom brackets, structural members, gearboxes, linkage systems, and custom hardware for FRC, FTC, VEX, Rocketry, Mustang Incubator products, and advanced student design projects. An electric tapping machine will not only dramatically speed up production but will also reduce failure rates, scrap material loss, and costly breakage-while improving safety for students working with threaded metals.
