Description: Serging to Excellence will provide our junior high theatre students with access to professional-grade sergers, elevating the quality of costume construction and deepening students' understanding of technical theatre design. Through hands-on learning, students will move beyond simple sewing to master industry-relevant techniques such as seam finishing, stretch fabric handling, and multi-thread stitching-skills that mirror real-world costume shop practices.

By incorporating sergers into our program, students will experience the authentic process of costume creation from concept to curtain call, learning precision, teamwork, and creative problem-solving along the way. These experiences cultivate ownership, pride, and confidence as students see their craftsmanship showcased on stage.

This grant bridges classroom learning with professional application, transforming technical theatre into a collaborative, career-connected environment. Serging to Excellence empowers students to engage in meaningful, skill-based artistry that prepares them for advanced theatre production and beyond.
