Description: The Junior High Theatre Department seeks funding to purchase cordless drills and essential hardware tools to enhance our students' hands-on, authentic learning experiences in technical theatre. Our theatre program emphasizes real-world application-students design, build, and maintain sets for school productions, working collaboratively to bring stories to life. However, many of our current tools are outdated or shared between multiple classes, limiting opportunities for every student to engage meaningfully in the construction process.
By providing reliable, safe, and high-quality drills, this grant will empower students to take ownership of their learning and apply math, science, and engineering concepts in a creative, project-based environment. Through the process of building scenery, platforms, and props, students will develop practical problem-solving skills, teamwork, and confidence in using power tools responsibly. These experiences mirror professional theatre and technical trades, preparing students for future opportunities in the arts, design, and skilled careers.
This investment in modern tools ensures that every student-regardless of background-can participate fully in the authentic, hands-on learning that technical theatre provides. With this support, our junior high theatre technicians will continue to build not only sets, but also collaboration, creativity, and confidence that will last well beyond the stage.
