Description: The Density Discovery Lab engages students in hands-on exploration of density, mass, and volume through the DensiTEACH Density Challenge Set. Using six visually similar balls made of different materials; vinyl, steel, wood, foam, resin, and polyurethane. Students test weight and water displacement to discover how mass affects density. By manipulating and measuring objects of the same size but different masses, students develop a concrete understanding of an abstract scientific concept.

This grant will enhance authentic learning in FISD by giving students a tangible way to explore mass, volume, and density, key components of the physical science curriculum. As students discuss and compare results, they practice scientific reasoning, critical thinking, and collaboration. Lessons are adaptable for K-8, allowing differentiation and inclusion across multiple grade levels. The kit's versatility also allows repeated use throughout the year, integrating density experiments into various units.

By transforming abstract concepts into hands-on experiments, the DensiTEACH kit promotes curiosity, engagement, and meaningful science learning.
