Pre-Rome, 1990-1992, Lithograph print, 15 x 11.25 by Bert L. Long, Jr.
Bert Long Jr. (1940-2013) was an energetic and enthusiastic self-taught artist - painter, sculptor, and photographer. He was included in the MFAH's seminal 1985 exhibition of Houston Art, "Fresh Paint" and won the Prix de Rome in 1990. His epic painting, ART/Life, is a treasure in Houston's Looscan Neighborhood Library. Long's works are found in the MFAH, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and more than 100 private collections. You may recognize "Collector" as it was featured in the documentary "Bert" which chronicled the life of this beloved Houston artist.
