Real Lives Changed: Meet Tayshawn Lyons
Two years ago, Tayshawn Lyons walked through the doors of Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania looking to grow. Today, he's our 2025 Youth of the Year and a shining example of what it means to be Future Ready. Quietly confident and deeply driven, Tayshawn quickly became a standout among his peers.
He has immersed himself in programs like the Artificial Intelligence Pathways Institute and Money Matters, gaining critical skills for life beyond school. As a member of the Youth Advocacy Council, Tayshawn doesn't just dream of a better future, he's helping create one. He recently traveled to Harrisburg to meet with Lt. Governor Austin Davis, advocating for policies that impact young people across Pennsylvania.
"Instantly, what stood out to me was his level of maturity - which is rare at 12," shared Scott Flurry, Director of Teen and Career Development. "Tayshawn leads with respect, intelligence, and a relentless drive to do his best."
Through the Club, Tayshawn found his voice, his purpose, and his path. He's not only thinking about his own future, he's shaping the future for others. Tayshawn is proof that when we open the Club door, we unlock limitless futures.
