Jack-In-The-Pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum)

A familiar sight in the woodlands of eastern North America, Jack in the Pulpit arrives on the scene each year in May. The intriguing bloom consists of a green and brown striped hood (or pulpit) that conceals a "jack" covered in numerous tiny green to purple flowers The flower structure exists in various combinations of green, purple and white stripes. way to a cluster of bright red berries in late summer, which are eaten by birds. Easy to grow, Jack in the Pulpit requires very little care and likes shade. Plants likes to be covered with a thick layer of leaves over the winter.
