TODD MCCOLLISTER is an Omaha-based artist working in wood and mixed media, on a range of themes from the predicaments of life to more formal ideas like pattern and geometry. The "Panel Paintings" series are almost paintings, almost sculptures, and almost collages. Using the plywood panel as a base, he drills, cuts, sews, and glues to ride the line between image and object. Craft traditions are a heavy influence. He shows frequently in Omaha, and his work can be found in lots of private collections in Nebraska and New York. McCollister is the designer, builder, and floor sweeper at Long Grain Furniture, and he runs a monthly event series where Omaha artists can share advice with one another, called "First Tuesdays at Todd's." He earned an MFA in Sculpture from Stony Brook University and a BFA in Sculpture and Photography from Texas Christian University.
