PAULA WILSON is a multidisciplinary artist based in Carrizozo, New Mexico. Her vibrant, layered works span painting, printmaking, video, performance, and installation. Exploring the interplay between human and non-human forms, Wilson blurs the line between art and daily life. She has had solo exhibitions at the California African American Museum (Los Angeles, CA); the Tang Teaching Museum (Saratoga Springs, NY); 55 Walker (New York, NY); Emerson Dorsch Gallery (Miami, FL); and Bemis Center, where she presented The Backward Glance in 2017. Her awards include Bemis Center's Ree Kaneko Award (2024), the Ossorio Fellowship at Colby College (2022-23), the Hodder Fund Grant from Princeton University (2020), and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant (2009). Her recent monograph, Paula Wilson: Toward the Sky's Back Door, surveys nearly two decades of her work. Wilson is co-founder of the Carrizozo Artist-in-Residency program and MoMAZoZo.
