ANDRES JANACUA is an artist living in Los Angeles, and occasionally in Chilchota, Michoacan, Mexico. Janacua is interested in the mutable woven form and often creates intricate woven panels dressed in an artist's frame. These works will often turn sculptural, adding further dimensionality for compositional complexity. He has been artist in residence at several institutions including the MFAH CORE Program in Houston, TX and SOMA, Mexico City. He has exhibited widely such as the Queens Museum, NY, Charlie James Gallery, and is represented by 839 Gallery, Los Angeles. He holds a BFA from the University of Southern California and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University.
