CELESTE BUTLER, a first-generation Omaha native, is a nationally exhibited Quiltologist, fiber artist, and storyteller preserving often-erased Black American histories. Her quilts have appeared at the National Afro-American Museum, the National African American Quilt Convention, and museums in Wilmington, NC. Locally, she's led residencies with The Union for Contemporary Art, Bemis Center, Omaha Public Schools, and more. In 2025, she received the AfroKC Legacy Award and the Women's Center for Advancement's Tribute to Women Award, and was one of sixteen artists selected to create permanent public art for Omaha's new Central Library. Previous honors include the 2024 Kwanzaa Pillar Award, OEAA Outstanding Group Show, LALA Artist Fellowship, Rowena Moore Award, and DREAM Award. Her quilts live in public and private collections across Omaha-each one a vessel of love, unity, and cultural truth.
