ANGIE SEYKORA, MFA, has a process-based, studio practice rooted in play and "thinking through making." She works with ordinary materials that become the building blocks for visually transformed objects, forms and installations. Her dedicated handiwork, mechanical methods of assembly and repetition, result in dynamic, unpredictable sculptural forms that reference the history of fiber art traditions, post-minimalism and bodily systems. Seykora's work has been recognized by the Joslyn Art Museum (Made in the Plains exhibition), The International Sculpture Center, Sculpture Magazine, Art-St-Urban (Switzerland) Residency, Amplify Arts (Unrestricted Artist Grant), and the Nebraska Arts Council (Individual Artist Fellowship). Past solo exhibitions include the Mid-America Arts Alliance (Kansas City, MO), the Museum of Nebraska Arts (Kearney, NE), The Union for Contemporary Art (Omaha, NE), Creighton University, and the University of South Dakota. Seykora lives and works in Omaha, NE.
