DAN CRANE is a multidisciplinary artist whose work centers around play, taking shape through drawing, digital sketching, screen printing, collaging, woodworking, and applique. He enjoys creating work that entertains. Recent recurring themes in his studio include color, shape, reverential subversion, utility, fan art, time travel, and a general sense of mischief. His practice also involves a strong emphasis on local and regional organizing: collaboration, curation, teaching, and trying to get lots of friends together in the same place at the same time. In 2009, Crane earned his BFA in Printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute. Since then, he has exhibited in both solo and group shows throughout the Midwest. He has also received fellowships, grants, and collaborative opportunities from organizations including the Joslyn Art Museum, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Kent Bellows Studio, KANEKO, Film Streams, Amplify Arts, and Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts.
