Larry Walker
"Small Echoes" Mixed media on watercolor paper 19 ½" x 18 ½". This piece is from the Surface, Spirit Voices and Other Secrets: The Wall Series in Transition collection.
Bio: Larry Walker grew up in New York City and studied at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. He was a professor of drawing and painting in the Department of Art, University of Stockton, CA. and then director at the School of Art and Design, Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Larry taught and mentored many contemporary artists including his daughter, Kara Walker. He exhibited in over 40 solo exhibitions and was chosen as one of three recipients of MOCA GA's 2007/2008 inaugural Working Artist Project award. His works are a part of the collections in the High Museum of Art, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art among others. He was chosen as one of three recipients of MOCA GA's 2007/2008 inaugural Working Artist Project award.
