The Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition hosts Hope in a Handbag as a signature fundraising event to support children impacted by foster care. This exclusive silent auction brings together over 300 influential, well-connected individuals for a glamorous evening where fashion meets philanthropy.

Guests bid on new and gently loved designer handbags and accessories in a silent auction to raise funds for children impacted by foster care, ensuring they receive essential resources and support.

In 2024, Hope in a Handbag raised an impressive $189,808. In 2026, we're aiming to make an even greater impact! Funds raised directly support programs and services that empower our children, making it a night of style with a heartwarming purpose.

About the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition

The Coalition has been dedicated to serving youth and families in the St. Louis region for over 35 years, working to close systemic gaps in permanency and stability for children in the child welfare system. Through 27 innovative programs, we recruit and support safe, culturally competent foster homes, prioritizing reunification and kinship placements whenever possible. 

In 2024, the Coalition served 35% of local children entering foster care. By 2029, the Coalition's goal is to serve 100% of local children entering foster care. Learn more about the Coalition on our website.
