Title: Scrunchie - Soulful Eyes

Artist: Sally Farrington

Medium: Watercolor, framed

Dimensions: 13" x 13"

Animal Depicted: Scrunchie

We received a call about a dog with an embedded collar. Hiding deep in the bushes, we spotted a young pup with big, scared eyes. We noticed that all of the skin on her neck had been cut open by a very tight cable. We had to carefully coax her out because we did not want to put a leash on her wound. She was frightened but brave and eventually trusted us enough to come with us.

When we got her to the clinic, we immediately got that horrible cable off and got an up-close look at her horrifying wound. Our veterinarians estimated that she was only about a year old, but by the amount of exposed tissue, they could tell that the tight cable had been on her for months. The pain and fear this little babe had faced for the majority of her life is unfathomable. We removed the cable and stitched the wound, and she was finally able to begin her healing journey.
