Horsehair Pottery with Dream Catcher by Seferina Bennaly
Seferina Bennaly, a Navajo artist, masterfully combines traditional horsehair pottery techniques with dreamcatcher motifs, creating unique and culturally rich ceramic pieces. Horsehair pottery is a distinctive art form where strands of horsehair are applied to hot pottery, resulting in unique patterns as the hair burns onto the surface. This process involves removing the pottery from the kiln at approximately 1200°F and draping horsehair over it; the hair burns, leaving dark, clear lines and smoky gray areas, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
