Celestial Harmonies: Concert & Meet Sarah Gillis, Space Explorer & Musician on Sun. July 20, 2025 at Mt. Wilson Observatory
Experience an unforgettable Sunday afternoon where the harmony of chamber music intertwines with the awe of space exploration, all within the historic Mount Wilson Observatory! You'll receive exclusive tickets to the Sunday Afternoon Concert in the Dome on July 20, 2025, a truly exceptional event celebrating the anniversary of the first walk on the Moon.
Prepare to be captivated by a performance featuring the extraordinary Sarah Gillis, engineer, astronaut, and accomplished violinist who journeyed to space aboard the Dragon Spacecraft in September 2024. Just as she shared the iconic "Rey's Theme" from Star Wars in orbit with John Williams' blessing, Sarah will grace this intimate setting with a special violin and piano rendition of the piece.
The afternoon's program also includes Beethoven's Piano Trio, Op. 11. Following this, Sarah will join the esteemed Martin Chalifour, Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, along with pianist Tim Durkovic, violist Andrew Duckles, and cellist Cécilia Tsan for a rare performance of Schumann's magnificent Piano Quintet, Op. 44 - a momentous occasion marking the first time a piano will be featured in this celebrated concert series within the dome!
