This work is informed by a love of cultures, past and present. It suggests ideal forms as they exist in nature, the human figure and the man-made world.

About the Artist

Sylvia Vigliani an artist and art teacher. She has worked in a multitude of media, including relief sculpture, mixed media photography and still life painting.

Her education and teaching experience led her to develop a passion for Classical art. Her interest in travel brings her back to themes and images in antiquity. Most of her works are inspired by these locations which she has photographed while visiting.

In her professional career as an art teacher, she spent six years teaching in Italy, England and Germany. During that time, she was able to study at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Turin, and earn photography and sculpture residencies in Pietrasanta and the The Burren, Ireland. Other residencies included the Vermont Studio Center, Bronx River Art Center, and Southampton Master Art Residency. Upon returning to the U.S., She studied at the New York Academy of Art and the Art Students League.
