Description:
Medium: cotton fabric & batting, Perle Cotton quilting thread. Made by Ellen Sweeney & Jerilynn Lijewski. This quilt is a bit of play with perspective; like going into a rainbow tunnel. Inspired by a quilt Ellen saw posted by "JANE handmade", Ellen sketched the quilt plan on graph paper and then pieced the quilt top together. Jerilynn hand quilted the piece with colorful Perle Cotton thread.
Dimensions:
75" x 89"
Artist Statement:
This quilt is made with love and support of the LGBTQ+ community, and will be donated to GSAFE's fundraiser in Memory of Andrew Cray, Ellen's step-brother. Andrew passed away from cancer in 2014, and was an incredibly intelligent, humble, and multi-talented trans man who dedicated his work to help humans, especially the LGBTQ+ community.
We created this quilt to help resist the discrimination of the LGBTQ+ community, and to support GSAFE which supports Wisconsin's LGBTQ+ youth.
