Handling Fee - Please Read
$10In order to ensure proceeds from the auction go to support GSAFE's work to create safe and affirming K-12 schools in Wisconsin we ask that you apply a $10 handling fee for each item you win on our auction when completing the check-out process.
This applies to items that will be picked up as well as shipped. This accounts for staff time and shipping costs.
For example, if you won three items, please enter the number "3" in the field that asks "Ener the number to buy" during the check-out process to add $30 in handling fees to your order. There will be no additional shipping/handling fee applied.
If this fee is not applied, we will reach out to you prior to pick-up or shipping to ask that you complete this part of check-out.
If you are uncertain how to do this please reach out to quilts@gsafewi.org before completing check-out for assistance.
Thank you for your support!

To Create Is to Resist-Framed
$85Description:
Julie Jackson of subversivecrossstitch.com turned French diplomat Stéphane Hessel's 2010 quote into a cross stitch and framed it for us, too. To check out more of this artist's designs visit her website and make sure to follow her on Instagram, too!
Dimensions:
5" x 7"
Here is more info about this quote and design from the Subversive Cross Stitch website:
Stéphane Hessel was a diplomat who was also part of the French Resistance against the Nazis in World War II. He led a pretty fascinating life.
The full quote, "To create is to resist; to resist is to create", is from "Time For Outrage!", a pamphlet he published at the end of 2010 when he was 93 years old. It was a call for young people to fight injustice and it struck a nerve, becoming a surprise best-seller (3.5 million copies worldwide, translated into 10 languages). It also gave the name (Indignados) to the Spanish protest movement that started in May 2011 and later inspired other protests in many countries, including France, Greece, Israel, and the USA with Occupy Wall Street. He was also a fellow student of Sartre:
Sartre taught us, "You are responsible as individuals." The responsibility of a person can not be assigned by a power or an authority. On the contrary, it is necessary to get involved in the name of one's responsibility as a human being.
Other amazing facts about Hessel:
- The characters in Jules et Jim were based on his parents.
- His family was part of that magical era in France with Calder, Man Ray and others. Stephane learned to play chess from Marcel Duchamp!
- He escaped from two different concentration camps.
