Jere was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Georgia State University after completing work on an M.A. degree in philosophy and an M.F.A. degree in sculpture. In 2000, Jere began a teaching career in sculpture, woodworking, art theory, and the philosophy of art at the Atlanta College of Art. He has been teaching in private secondary and middle schools since 2005. Jere has exhibited and published work around the country. His work has been published in the Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, The International Journal of Social Science, and Fine Woodworking Magazine. He has received numerous awards for his sculpture: The People's Choice Award and an Honorable Mention for his sculptures exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, an exhibition award at Artfield's 2022 competition, and most recently the Best In Show Award at the Craft + Design 2023 show in Richmond. Jere has also worked extensively with nonprofit companies, and he collaborates with other artists in dance and theater companies. He currently lives in Savannah with his wife, Sally, and their dog Burton.
